Pies seem to be the trend lately at Ravenscry HQ, This one seems to be made out of pork. But there is no pork pie in the world that sounds quite like this one. If there was anyone who will extract the thunder from this kit it will be Simon, who is now the proud owner. Take it away man!! Make some noise!!

There are rumblings coming out of Ravenscry studios regarding the filming of the new video. Details are vague and cryptic. But here is something to chew on. Literally. Giulia had this to say regarding events.












Recipe for CALLIOPE VIDEOCLIP 


 Ingredients for 6 billion people: 

 - a song called "Calliope", 
 - a fistful of Crisis, 
 - 5 Ravens who slept 4 hours, 
 - 1 fisher of carps who slept 4 hours, 
 - some carps splashing under the armpits, 
 - a couple of very special infiltrators, 
 - Guise to taste, 
 - 1 kg of FLOUR. Mix it all patiently and sprinkle it carefully with flour. Let the dough rest for at least 8 hours, bake at about 40 degrees (in the shade), then serve heavily.


As you can gather, or not as the case may be, the band have been quite busy creating......something, which is currently baking away in a stone oven somewhere. Expect it to be served sometime soon at your favourite bakery, I mean.........video channel? no wait I'm not sure now. Oh well, more news to come. Stay tuned and happy baking!

The Fifth and Final 10 Questions With

Armed with the knowledge that the Earth did in fact house a hollow inhabitable inner terrain complete with internal sun, Sir Simon Carminati (master drummer) decided to venture forth in to the unknown passage. Various theories throughout time had indicated that deep underground below the Earth's surface, was a second "inner Earth" with it's own environment and gravitational laws. A Universe within a universe. Contrary to our common Scientific belief of a solid state within the Earth, could there actually be life existing in a subterranean world? which has existed for as long as the Earth has been around? Legend has it that the Nazi's certainly thought so, as well as other figures over the centuries.

Simon had tunneled his way deep in to the underworld. The landscape bore the same resemblance with every inch of progression through the tunnels, dark, warm, musty. How far does one need to go before reality halts delusion? A grail quest had always ended in failure. It be best to learn a lesson from our ancestors who had gone before us. Simon was undeterred and continued until his destiny had been revealed to him.  Sorry Simon, it's only us. And there is no turning back. The passage behind him is dark, and so too is that what is in front of him. What only mattered was what could be seen in the place where he stood.

5. What did you imagine yourself being when you were younger? Did you always want to be a musician or had a totally different career in mind?


When I was a kid I thought I would become a crazy scientist or inventor. When I was a teenager I had a little passion for philosophy and philology so I continued to study these subjects at the University and for a couple of years I thought I would become a professor. But then I left the university because I didn't like the institutional way of approaching knowledge....so I kept studying and investigating reality while I play and teach drums 


6. Do you think aliens exist? If you met one what would you ask?


I KNOW that they exist :)...and if I met one I would tell him/her/it "Hey there, what's up? Need some help?"


7. What is your ideal way to spend an evening? go out or read a book, watch a movie etc?


Watch movies, read books, meditate and write thoughts and music


8. If you could time travel, what era in history would you like to visit?


I would like to visit the ancient Egyptian era....Or Atlantis


9. Can you cook or are you a disaster in the kitchen? what is your signature dish?


Well I can cook very simple stuff. I think my signature dish is the ratatouille....But it's a lot of time that I am not doing it.


10. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?


I really don't know because I always focus myself on the present moment ...So I guess that even 10 years from now I will be in the now. 


We showed Simon the exit, which would lead him back out in to the world. He chose not to accept it. His world was right here and so against our better judgement, he descended once again on his journey. He faded in to the darkness as our intervention reached it's conclusion. Did he find what he was looking for? You will have to ask him. But not before stepping foot in the Raven's Shadow.

Ah the wonders of exploring a new city, not knowing where the hell you are going, hungry and dizzy. Our five heros give you a raven's eye view of the town. As usual, it's all a bit random. But we like that. Right? 

Paul is dissected with 10 questions!

The final stand off ensued as the dealer gave Paul (Guitarist) a cold stare. He was giving nothing away as he flipped over the card to reveal his hand. 19. In this game of chance one must be prudent in the face of adversity. The odds are favourable, yet the risk is high. He weighs up his options, stick or twist. He has his final throw. Sweat is pouring down the side of his head, but he steadies himself and motions the dealer to flip him a card as he doubled down his bet. Only a face card or a 10 will trump the dealer's hand. It arrived, as if in slow motion, it took an age to reveal itself. Those few seconds felt like hours. Paul had every emotion surge through his mind like a sudden pump of adrenaline coursing through the veins. This was it. It all came down to this last hand. Then as so often in life the choice that was made, revealed itself. Blackjack. Paul was vindicated in his actions and claimed his prize. 


Unfortunately for Paul, The Blackjack is our calling card and before he could raise his arm aloft to declare his victory, he found himself in a very dark place altogether. Clutching his victory card in hand, he was now a prisoner of the Raven's Shadow. Well played Paul. We began our mental dissection.

Music has been part of my life since I was a baby.. Yes, I always wanted to be a musician.


6. Do you think aliens exist? If you met one what would you ask?


Yes, and I am a big fan of Zakaria Sitkin and Alan F. Alford who wrote very interesting books on that topic.
I do not know exactly but I would ask him something about their technology.


7. What is your ideal way to spend an evening? go out or read a book, watch a movie etc?


if I'm alone reading a good book or playing some metal riff.
if I'm with someone ...... wait a minute... "etc" means sex? ;)) 


8. If you could time travel, what era in history would you like to visit?


I am very fascinated by the pyramids so I think I would be with Mauro.


9. Can you cook or are you a disaster in the kitchen? what is your signature dish?


I'm learning to cook, but nothing more than pasta.


10. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?


to palm-muting under a bridge.


We sent him back, still with the card in his hand. The only difference was that the jack was not Jack, it was Paul, his picture replacing that of the original. An appropriate souvenir for such a chance encounter. Paul will make yet more choices as he ventures forward but we will be waiting for him. Whatever his next move, be it poker, chess,tic tac toe, we have his number and we're already ahead.

It was announced today that the new video will be

With weeks of speculation, anticipation and a little contest, we learned today that the new music video to be released following Nobody, will be Calliope. There is still some wait to go however and I am sure we are all looking forward to the release of the video. More news on that as it trickles out from Ravenscry HQ. Stay Raven!

Just to follow on from the last post Nobody wins a couple of awards

Just yesterday I gave you an update on the view count for the Video reaching 400k views. Today there was some more news coming out of the band's Facebook page. Music social network, Beat 100 brings music fans, artists and bands together in one place and offer incentives to musicians for creating unique, original, exemplary  pieces of work. The good news is that the video for Nobody is starting to gain some attention, not just among metal fans but also music critics who are on the look out for creativity and something a little bit different. Well you will be pleased to know that Beat 100 recognizes, Nobody as deserving of such praise and has been given a gold award in two categories. The first is a song award for well written original song. The other Awarded for a high quality original video with good production values.

It's time! 10 Questions with

Well well well, who do we have here? It's of course Giulia Stefani, the leader of the pack, vocalist extraordinaire. She has more lung capacity than a hundred Olympic swimmers put together. Aside from that interesting fact which I just invented, she remains a little on the mysterious side. That was until her urge for exploration and wonder lead her down a dark path and in to our lap. Never mess around with mirrors, especially those which can distort reality, space and time. Doing so may land you in the deepest darkest depths of nothingness, otherwise known as, The Raven's Shadow. We began to pick at her mind. She offered some resistance but what use is a supersonic cry in a vast sea of emptiness? This is what she had to say in response to our questions.

Woman, man, liberal, introvert, funny.


2. If you were an animal which one would it be and why?

If I could choose, I'd be a cat: free, lazy and opportunist.


3. So you are walking in a desert, dehydrated and tired with no sign of life around you, but you MAY be close to some civilisation. A wise man appears and offers you a bottle of cool refreshing water. Enough to last you a day or two, or a case containing $100,000,000 but you have to foresake the water, which do you chose? 


Rather than a wise man, he seems a bastard!...ok: water.


4. What famous person past or present would you like to have lunch with?


Making a choice is very difficult...maybe Luis Buñuel or Christopher Johnson McCandless.


5. What did you imagine yourself being when you were younger? Did you always want to be a musician or had a totally different career in mind?


When I was a child, I was obsessed with everything related to the age of dinosaurs, so I thought I'd become a paleontologist.

6. Do you think aliens exist? If you met one what would you ask?


I think there is space enough for other creatures, if not, it would be a huge wastage. If I met one, I think I'd ask him to take a ride in the space, later I ask him to facilitate the end of human race with his (probably) powerful weapons...hoping for a regeneration.


7. What is your ideal way to spend an evening? go out or read a book, watch a movie etc?


I love listening to good live music while I drink a good trappist beer with friends.


8. If you could time travel, what era in history would you like to visit?


Not too far behind...the seventies would be the ideal period, because you could still find a glimmer of hope in music and politics.


9. Can you cook or are you a distaster in the kitchen? what is your signiture dish?


Sure, I'm not a chef but I can do it! The pear and chocolate cake is my masterpiece!


10. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?


Wherever the music will take me.


Giulia's reflection twisted back in to shape. Was this trip through an empty dark space a projection of her mind's eye or were there other forces conspiring to pull her out of her reality and reanimate her in an alternate world? A world where one is confronted by a shadow of their own duality. The things we touch and look at may not be exactly what they appear to be.
